Jon Hess explores Screenwriting from the inside out. Jon focuses on "story work," in which he takes into consideration the way a writer's mind works -- abstractly. Creatively. Organically. Move away from the sterile, formulaic approach, and explore the passion of your story. "Focusing only on technique and structure is like cramming for an exam. You pass the test -- but you haven't really learned anything." During the weekend seminar and following workshop you will learn what it takes to build story, character, and conflict. You will learn to use the "dialectics of drama" to create powerful, dynamic and cinematic screenplays. This will be an uplifting creative experience and can give you true insight into yourself as an artist. Writers at all levels and creative producers looking to improve their story skills are welcome.

JON HESS has been a force in the film industry as a writer, director, and producer for over ten years. He most recently developed and co-produced AMERICAN HISTORY X, for which Ed Norton received an Academy Award Nomination. Jon has directed eight feature films, including EXCESSIVE FORCE for New Line Cinema, and Dean Koontz's WATCHERS for Universal. Jon is also Director-in-Residence at Emerson College LA Center, and a professional script consultant.

A deposit of $50.00 each for the workshop and seminar is required to reserve your seat, as space is limited. Return e-mail, fax to 310: 822-1311, or call (310) 823-5469 ASAP to reserve a seat
